Selling a car and Test drives

Hi Guy's,
my friend is thinking about selling his car and we were talking bout people test driving etc. on auto trader it says make sure they potential buyer has insurance for your car..
In the real world i can't see that happening? I suppose if they have insurance they would only be covered 3rd party which wouldn't do him any favours if they smashed it into someone because he would still have to pay for the repair of his car.
What would you guy's do? let them drive it 3rd party or drive the car for them so they can hear the engine and performance etc?
Thanks

I normally drive the car for them untill we get out to a quiet road further out in the sticks, let them have a little go if I think they can be trusted.
If you in anyway unsure though, don't let them drive.

Plenty of sites selling one day insurance these days. Get the seller to take the insurance out through one of them.

If they cannot prove insurance do not let the drive.
