Leather feed/recolour
« on: 16 October 2010, 16:43 »
I have some Rallye half leather seats that I've been using Gliptone conditioner on with good results. However, I've recently got hold of a leather steering wheel that requires a little more attention. In some places the leather is worn and discolored slightly - are there any recommended products to either feed or recolour? I'm no leather expert!

Thanks

Here is the wheel in question:

I have this product from Furniture clinic and I think its a good product.

Obviously clean the wheel thoroughly before useing it but I've used it my seats without without any problem at all.

Your welcome mate, the other products I have are

The cleaner is really good and I try to clean and feed the leather twice a year and I have no doubt that it helps.

Thanks for that

Is it easy and reasonably mess free to apply?

Its not bad but obviously you have to a bit carefull when using anything like this, the only thing I would add is always make sure you wear gloves (you do get some but they arent much good) when applying it as it really is colour fast !

Quick query mate - in the print for this it says about testing the leather with water to see if it soaks in. Mine doesn't, just runs off. Was this the same with yours? Site recommends a touch up kit in these circumstances but that's £20  :undecided:

If that’s the case then I would get the touch up kit and perhaps the cleaning fluid, if your leather is coated and not porous then there's not point buying anything to feed or colour the leather as it just wont absorb the product.

cheers for the reply. Indeed, it's just it's the same price as the steering wheel cost. I found this which might do the job, seems highly regarded

I have bitten the bullet though and gone with the furniture clinic stuff. Should be enough to do the steering wheel and if it's really good I might get some more for my seats
