VR6 Inner CV joint and boot

Hey guys and girls last week i thought i had a wheel bearing gone when it went in for its MOT turns out it was the inner CV joint and boot gone, i have the part and am ready to change it but i just want to make sure how to do it.

is it undo the bottom suspention bolts, undo the hub nut  and unbolt the boot and joint then change them???

please is this right i dont wanna rip it apart and bugger the job up  :grin:

im sure you can do it without taking the suspension off. could be wrong  :huh:

I'd personally try to remove the balloting form the hub then pull it out. Helps retain tracking. :)

I am 99% sure you will need to split the bottom balljoint.

Oh my god that was a piece of p**s, un did the 2 strut bolts, un did the 6 bolts on the CV joint the joint and shaft just came away as the driveshaft doesnt go into the gearbox, whack the drive shaft out of the hub and swap and re intall with new bit  :grin:

I have done these. Its a lot easier to remove the driveshaft from the car to do it. Not sure what you mean by strut bolts.

Big +1.

Split the bottom balljoint from the hub, then take the shaft out, stick the balljoint back in and it will retain the tracking.

Remove the three bolts on the balljoint or the two strut bolts and you'll move the tracking.
