Fabric Roof Help please!
« on: 14 October 2010, 17:53 »
Hi Guys,

A colleague at work has asked me to have a go at cleaning her Audi A4 convertible for her. Im not a pro valeter/detailer but she knows i have an interest and I've offered to do it as a favour for her if she buys the extra stuff i need to do it.

The convertible roof (mohair) is filthy and i just dont know what is best to use to clean and seal/protect it through winter. I've searched the DW forums and it comes up with either the AG kit or the Renovo kits.

What do you use and what would you recommend?

Thanks in advance!

i used the autogeam cabriolet fabric hood cleaner on my volvo c70, dark blue fabris hood, brought it up well and it had a weatherproofer to put on afterwards, worked a treat

When I had my old mk1 cab I used this and it was pretty good, but I'm no professional valetor either and there may be better out there. Biggest pain was getting the lather out of the roof.

The protector is brilliant and when you put it on and throw water on it it just beads and rolls off.

Yeah it is expensive! I dont think she'll want to pay that price! I only have her car with a fabric roof to do, so i might try the AG stuff as its only £20 and seems to get good reports on DW!

+1 for renovo, yes its pricey BUT it is the nuts for convertable roof protection, buy the cheap stuff by all means but you'll regret it in the long run.

I found it for £12.50 with £2 postage! She didn't really want to pay more than £20 and the Renovo stuff was over double that. If it was my car it would be Renovo all the way but we've gone with the AG kit. Thanks for the replies!
