I remember buying that issue when I was a kid. I desperately wanted a VR6 in the family back then and this article absolutely slated not just the V but the Mk3 line up. Didn't stop me doing work experience in a VW workshop though

I guess thats 1 of my 3 reasons that the mk3 is a good GTI out of the window then   

Two more for you on why the MK3 is Crap:

1. The Court of Public Opinion.
2. Diamond Hell.

i cant afford a nice mk2 to tell you the truth,so i picked this up with fresh 12 months m.o.t 57k,full black heated leather,climatronic etc etc for £1000,i think mk3 vr6`s and the mk2 16v are in the same league,yet the vr6 is just more comfortable and has a better engine note

I'm agreeing. Being 19 nearly 20 I would rather take the mk2 and my gti seats r compfy enough for my likeings. When I get old n midlife crissis hits I'll get a mk6 golf r. That's prob compfy and rapid.
