My Audi does to a certain extent, as do all cars with a turbo I think, depends how loud it is and when its doing it. What mileage is the car on?

Vw's Audi's and Seat's all have quiet loud turbos, not sure really why??? As Dec said what is the milage on yours? I have a few friends with Audi's, Vw's and Seat's and they all say that their turbos are quiet loud, i have a Alfa Romeo 156 JTD and the turbo on that is no where near as loud as the German ones. I wouldnt worry too much about it unless it is starting to effect the performance.

I have noticed that my Audi seems to have a quieter engine than earlier (mk4/early mk5's) but the turbo noise seems to be the same across the board. There are a lot quieter engines about as above, but others (vauxhalls ) seem to be louder.

Mileage can play a part, however the life of a turbo seems to depend a lot on how its been looked after over its life, as some Audi's on the audi forum have gone at very low mileage, whereas others last a lot longer. Hopeing to get another 30-40k out of mine before I have to worry about that

yeah its not a bad noise its just a nice whistle, was just worried because ive heard stories of other ppls turbo going on them, mine is the 130bhp model and its been remapped to around 160bhp and the performance is still bang on, no loss in power anywhere. and its got 168K on the clock, with a ull service history from vw and audi, and ive got a reciept in the book saying the turbo has already been changed at 1 point in the past im just paranoid    thanks for the replys

Think he would have meant 'quite' rather than 'quiet' :P

iv recently purchased a pd130 2002 with 62,000 on the clock and it makes a whooshing noise, like a spraying noise but i assumed that was the turbo, i think it sounds good!
