oh well, thats not so bad then! :) cheered me up a bit. think the biggest expense is going to be replacing the strut, i was kinda hoping it was just the top mount...ive put another thread up with some pics if you want to have a glance at that, the drivers side top mount is shot to bits!

Mine has a hole that I could fit the tip of the pinky finger on the sill. Would that still fail MOT? Might cut the section, treat the rust and weld over it before my MOT  :undecided:

from my post about the M.O.T i can say if you book it for an actual mot, and you fail, you no longer have a valid mot.

mine got an advisory on the CV Boots, should i get that checked out very soon?

Yeah, if im right, the CV boots basically hold the grease in that enable the CV joint to keep moving, if its got a hole, or is looking like its on its way out its best to change them, a hole in the CV boot will allow the grease to escape, and no grease + CV joint = a nice day pay for a mechanic.

I'd just change them mate. Go to GSF's website, they sell CV boots for about a tenner each :)
