Crown wheel size, 109 or 111mm?
« on: 11 October 2010, 16:02 »
Im pricing up parts for a gearbox rebuild, bearing kits, syncro-mesh etc, and im hoping to fit a Quaife LSD if I can save the money.

So, on browsing the Quaife web site, I see they list two diffs for the 020 box, for 109mm and 111mm crown wheels. Now my gearbox knowladge is limited (im hoping to learn a bit in the re build with the help of a pro), is the crown wheel the one that bolts to the diff? Which size would I need to suit my 1990 8v GTi?

Thanks Ben, It is as I suspected, the big gear that's bolted (rivited as standard) to the differential housing. My lego-technic days have served me well for basic mechanical knowaldge!

Anyone know about the different sizes?

Anyone with info on this? or do I find the size once the box is in bits?
