problem with car...

car turns on fine but when i acclerate the car seems to die a majority of the time and the thing is it happened out of nowhere at a red light. sometimes when i press the acclerator it acclerates like normal but a majority of the time no good. when i press it the car seems to loose power and my rpm's drop leading to the car dying if i dont take my foot off. what could be causing this annoying problem??
i just got a new tune up yesterday could that have something to do with it??
any ideas?

ps. i came to the conclusion that for some reason gas isnt going through even though i got a half tank. like a clog or something but then again im just guessing with no experience with cars haha

fuel filter/pressure.

With my first car (r5  ) there was loads of sediment in the petrol tank.
When you let petrol get low, this can clog up the fuel lines, sometimes if I went to accelerate, it would push the sediment through and either judder and cut out or judder, pause for a second then be on its way.
Try changing the fuel filter, fill the tank with petrol and put a shot of redex in when filling up, and try not to let the fuel gauge reach the red.

anyone got any advise for changing the fuel filter? never done one so i have no idea what to expect.

on a side note the car funs fine if i can get it into 2nd 3rd 4th and im guessing 5th even through i havnt gone that fast since the problem started. would this still have to do with the fuel filter??

could this be a transfer pump issue??? how would i go about fixing that because thats what im told could be wrong by talking with them over the phone... and they are a vw only shop.
