I'm Adam from Aylesbury, just come across the site through Google and thought I'd check it out because as of tomorrow I am a proud Mk2 owner!
Been into all the retro stuff with most of my time being spent in E30 BMW's I felt like a bit of a change as I've always been fond of the Mk2's, especially the GTi's.
The car in question which I am buying is a Mk2 Golf GTi 5dr, H reg, Big Bumper, Completely Standard and Unmolested, 120k, FSH, Only 2 Previous Owners - PAS, Elec. Windows, Central Locking - £550 with 12 months MOT, which I didn't feel was a bad price - the mechanics are excellent, I touch smoky when rev'd but this is due to being sat for quite a while being neglected!
The bodywork is quite tatty in admittance, quite flat in places - looks like someone has done some wet flatting and decided to give up. I am a detailer by trade so hopefully a machine polish will fix/improve these defects! No rust except for the passenger side scuttle around the window wiper - does anyone have any knowledge price/are able to do to correct this?
Interior looks good to, however, the roof lining is sagging - again does anyone have knowledge on where/how I can put this right properly.
Any mods in particular that are worth doing - pref. OEM to keep with the design.
So I have a slightly tatty GTi as a rolling restoration to keep me entertained, I'll post up photos and keep you all posted with my progress.
