Just noticed that my Airbag and ABS lights don't light up any more so Im planning on using vagcom to see if that helps, anyway had a look on the site and cant seem to find any info on what type of cable in need for my GTI to go from Laptop to car :(

Its a 1997 MK3 GTi 8V

but dont buy the ones for a tenner...none of them work because they use a cloned chip or something...my bro's bought 2 of them, and neither of them have worked. If your gonna buy one, dont get it off ebay

 :shocked: how the bloody hell they managed that? weve tried with two different cables, and allsorts of different programs and everytime its always reported that it cant conect to the car, or the cable has a cloned chip or some other pish. Anybody got any good "how to" guides to get them working?

Yeah I've got an ebay tenner jobby and it works perfectly well. Sometimes it can be a bugger to install and set up, but eventually it will work. It's worked well since I bought it and it does the same job as the £200 counterpart  :smiley:

HOOOW!!!????? lol. followed the instructions on the disc that came with the cables, but for all that that achieved id have been as well sticking it up the cats arse and trying to run diagnostics on that.

apart from free updates and support for life, module coding/adaptations, live data logging and my personal favourite.. a chipset that doesn't destroy airbag ECUs on a regular basis :laugh:
