I found the DSG ok in manual mode on the mk5 GTI i often drive but not in auto. I found the same when i test drove both the mk6 GTI and Mk6 GTD. That made my mind up to what was the point of me spending all that extra on DSG if i was going to use it in manual mode all the time anyway.

I went for my GTI fully intending to buy a DSG. After a test drive of a manual and a DSG GTD (GTI not available) I decided on a manual. The DSG was good and great fun, but there were a few things I didn't like:

- Clunk as it engaged 1st coming to roundabouts/junctions (may just have been this car)
- It brought out the devil in me and I just wanted to hoon it around everywhere
- In auto, it's choice of gears at times

All in all a great auto gearbox, just not for me

So having let the manual car go, I've now found this - and placed a small deposit.

Dec '09 (59) GTD DSG - Black Metallic 13,000 miles
Only extras seem to be the paint and RNS510

Have managed to secure for £20.3k which seem like excellent deal given that cheapest I can find at VW franchised is about £23k +

Going to see car on Thurs and drive home if all turns out as expected.
