engine runnin little warm

hello people just need 2 quiz some1 over some samco hoses. I hav fitted samco hoses 2 my digifant mk2 and its runnin rather warm (3/4) on temp gauge and when its sat in traffic will be on hot with red light flashin at me but i have removed the 2 valves that go to the heater matrix as the samco do not cater 4 them. i hav just been told that i need to refit the 2 valves is this correct and has any1 had the same problem?

How exactly have you plumbed it? I have samco hoses on my 8valve and still have the valves for heater matrix installed

alright bud erm theres 1 goin from the metal coolant pipe on right hand side off the engine straight into heater matrix then the other comes out of heater matrix down to cyclinder head. the pipes seem to fit spot on dont think i cud get wrong pipe on wrong place cud i? dont think it wud be easy 2 do it wrong with out seeing it was wrong.

The valves are there to stop the original weak heater matrix bursting.

If the matrix has been changed fairly recently, it will be a stronger one, so the valves aren't needed
If the car is still on the original matrix, then it can't be in too good shape and will probably need to be replaced soon anyway. Once it's replaced the valves won't be needed.
If you don't want to replace the matrix (it's a fairly long job but doable DIY), or can't be sure whether it has ever been replaced, then you have to chop your shiny hoses and put the valves in.

The valves tend to get blocked and restrict water to the heater matrix, thus bypassing it completely. I wouldn't think removing them would cause the car to overheat unless there was a blockage in the matrix itself? Was the system bled correctly when you refilled with coolant after fitting the hoses?

Sounds like it hasnt been bleed properly to me. Try again, then again, then again until it works. If you are unsure the put a hose onto into the pipe for the matrix and watch all the rusty water come out, will help make sure that it clean first.

right thanks 4 ur help people much appreciated. since ur all so kind i'd just throught id throw a spanner in the works it has a bailey tank on it with out the hole for the temp sensor so that is not plugged in could that also cause the temp gauge to read high 2? other than that think i might aswell replace the radiator and heater matrix then i no its all right is i have already replace the thermostat and water pump. look forward to hearing from my fell vdub luvers again
