do the 150's and 130's have different turbos? if not, what takes the 150 to 190 bhp and the 130 to 170/180??

Another thing that never get mentioned is the spec.

150's are 1.8T GTI spec as opposed to the 130's being 2.slow spec.

So you'll get sports suspension and 16" wheels, 3 rear headrests and rear belts, dodgy wood trim, and in addition to the petrol GTI, a 4motion front vallance. You are also more likely to find a 150 speced with leather.

This might not mater if you are going to put wheels and suspension on it, as the other stuff you can probably do without, but a 150 is still a 150. It's a bit like going out in the 80's to buy an RS turbo, but ending up with an XR3i
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

We've got the ARL 150 tuned by me to 185bhp and touching 300lb/ft

We've had it 6 months now and apart from a service, CV boot and a brake hose - it's not needed anything mechanically.  It's a fantastic drive and returns great economy, and genuinely puts a lot of so called performance cars to shame.

The 150 has the front mounted intercooler and bigger turbo as well as better suspension and a few differences in trim etc.

I think you'd have a better selection of 130's as there's probably more available, but if you're looking for the best one you can buy and want to keep it, go find a decent 150.

I think if you went for the 130, you'd always wish you spent a bit more and got the 150.. well that's just me anyway :d
