Have I got this right?
« on: 04 October 2010, 12:00 »
Hi,

I have been getting into this detailing malarke over the last few weeks, so I am a pure novice, I have started to build up a collection of detailing equipment and am sure that I have been "bitten by the bug".

I know there are many combinations of products to use but if I can show you what I plan to do, then if you think anything needs changing or have any useful suggestions that would be great.

I do not have a machine polisher, maybe for christmas or something, so I am doing it by hand at the mo.

Exterior
Rinse - Cold water
Wash - 2 Bucket, Noodle mitt, car shampoo (suggestions for shampoo welcomed)
Clay - Megs clay kit
Wash - (as above)
Polish - AG SRP as I have some small swirls - 2 Coats
Sealant - (Suggestions pleas, is this really neccessary?)
Wax - Dodo Juice Purple Haze (Not purchased yet) - 2 coats
Glass - Glass cutter and then treatment (Suggestions please)

Wheels
Alloy wheel cleaner/degreaser(please suggest)
Claying - As above
Sealant?
Wax - (please suggest)

Interior
Hoovering/cleaning of fabric (seats and headliner)
Cleaning of trim
Glass - (Please suggest interior glass cleaner, not tinted.)

Comments/suggestions/thoughts are much apprec\iated.

Hi,

I think you've got most of it right - as far as the sealant goes you've got to get some Jetseal109 - http://www.waxamomo.co.uk/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=78&idcategory=8 - i know its expensive but its my favourite product. Put it on in 2 thin layers, its easy to use and provides a tough level of protection ready for the wax.

Im also about to buy some DoDo Purple Haze - Currently i use Megs Techwax 2 liquid and i hear the paste waxes are much better but im not sure what benefit they will offer.

Shampoo - http://www.waxamomo.co.uk/productcart/pc/viewCategories.asp?idCategory=76 - take your pick

Wheels i would seal with the Jetseal x 2 and then wax on top - the same wax as the body would do in my opinion

Glass - You can clay glass aswell to remove the contaminants - i just use AG Fast Glass inside and out and it does me fine

Hope this helps!

Jon

P.S - Not sure if you've used Waxamomo yet but the service is second to none - i couldn't recommend enough

Wax - Dodo Juice Purple Haze (Not purchased yet) - 2 coats Good choice, could maybe go Pro Version?
