whats required in order to do this? im guessing it isnt a simple case of just taking a hacksaw to it?

ha it really is that easy
find a new gear nob cut your shifter down to required size then stick a hose clamp arouns new knob and shifter, simple

cant ya just re-use the original gear knob? just pack it wi superglue and slip it on? lol

you can get a mk4 shifter of ebay for around £5 - 10 there not real leather on some of them but look spot on, you can get a hose clamp from places like homebase etc thats all you need really

my mk3 gear knob is still in pretty reasonable condition, might just re-use that...meh, its one of those jobs i say i'll get round to doing, but never do. been saying for weeks that i'm gonna joey the headlights lol, and still nothing
