I really need some advice
« on: 02 October 2010, 19:07 »
Basically guys yesterday i was involved in an accident and the other car crashed straight into the side of me, luckily no injuries either side and no passengers involved, i brought the car for £600 and i need to know weather the car is worth keeping,

both passenger side doors the rear wing and my side skirt are completely mullered how much will this cost to replace?

In all honestly should i just break the car?

i dont want to let it go but i think i might have too

any help most appreciated guys

Jon

I would say u could break it and get ur money back or if you have the space u could get a cheap runaround and turn your golf into a project and improve it

it would in all likelihood, cost a fortune to put right, your best bet is gonna be to break it and try and make some money back.

or buy a cheap MOT failure and make 1 good car from them both

wouldnt have been so bad if the rear quarter panel hadn't taken a knock, doors are easy to replace, repairing a dent in a quarter panel isnt, you'd be talkin a few hundred just to get that fixed and resprayed

Thanks for the advise guys i think im going to have to go with the breaking it option as it was my fault really :( inexperience rears its ugly head as ever

i was gutted about the rear quarter because i knew that would be the expensive bit, have a feeling the bottom skirt is bent as well so the passenger side is F'd

so here comes the fun bit anyone need any parts for a mk3 1.6 CL AEA golf? ha il tae photos and put it in the breaking section next weekend

I'm gunna miss this beauty

If you go insurance your car will be instantly a write off
If liability is established with the third party (assuming it wasn't your fault?) then it won't affect your claims/excess but you will be market value, if they're insured with swiftcover don't even bother, you'll be waiting 6 months+ before you get any kind of payout
