« on: 01 October 2010, 09:30 »
For my one week old 06 mk5 GTI. Its the first 'mod i'll be making and Ive got that Friday feeling and want to make a purchase on my lunch today!

So, a quick poll please - WHAT SHOULD I GO FOR??

Any help / advice please...? My mate works for a motorsport shop and has given me a few pointers but I want to know what the guys that know would go for!???

I've moved this as you'll probs get more response in here. Surely none of the mk5 mob will be in the garage section as that's just for the old Golfs !

Hurdy - what effect would a full exhaust system have on my pirelli without a remap?

Would there be any benefit from the sports cat or do you need a remap to get an effect?

Proberly make it rev alot free'er. Sound alot better, but wont give you any bhp gain.

Will excellerate alot smoother.

It won't really gain any power on its own but if you ever do decide to get a remap it will be even more beneficial.
Not low enough mk5
Not on the road enough mk3

FTB Milltek is the way forward. Do a proper job of it.

Also you NEED a remap, should be illegal not to have one.

Happy modding

I think I posted in wrong section...! Lack of replies meant I thought Id dig a bit deeper before taking the plunge..

I have a friend who works in a motorsport shop; they do parts for Audi, VW, Porsche... He's raced and has been in and around motorsport most of his life - I didnt ask his advice before because I thought he was just Porsche / high end stuff.

He says that inside the industry there are major problems with Milltek and that there are major quality problems with Milltek exhausts cracking? I dont know never used one, but he says that at the beginning of the year they started moving production overseas to china and the quality has just fallen off a cliff??? Im going to do a bit more research but for now I'm steering clear of Milltek - what other options are there??
