Help for a freind
« on: 30 September 2010, 21:07 »
Hi my friend has a mk5 tdi i think its a 54 plate. anyway the car has sat on his drive for around
a year now, he had an accident which pushed the drivers door down and the seal upwards forcing the
the door shut.
The door cant be opened with the only key he has due to the battery being flat, also we cant pop the bonnet
to charge the battery, he has recently lost his job and needs to get the car sorted to sell it on and is
getting desperate and thinking of selling as it is.
Is there a way to get into the car without doing anymore damage any ideas would be appreciated as his had
some sh!t luck lately and i want to try and help him out.

thanks
rob

I take it it also can't be opened via the physical door lock either?

You should be able to get at the bonnet cable from underneath the car.  Get it up on jacks and see if you can locate it that way  :undecided:

You will need to take off the under tray to get to the bonnet catch from under the car, and I cant really see how you will be able to open it from there even if you can (could be wrong).

Can you not get a lock smith to open the passenger side door with a key?

you can get the bonnet open by taking the front grille off, take the badge off to locate all the screws that undo the grille then this will allow you to undo the catch i think there is 3 of them on the catch. the whole catch will come up with the bonnet allowing you to access the engine etc i did this with our jetta when the cable broke its fiddily but quite easy
