window playing up

drivers side window is playing up- doesnt close fully close just goes up and down on its own. when i open my door card i noticed a yellow plastic thing had come off (dont know what it its).  Just need someone to confirm if its a motor before i buy or is it something else?.

First guess would be regulator going by the symptoms you've described. Much cheaper than a new motor

had same problem with mine until i found the actually metal cable that is there to lift and lower the window had snapped still stuck on were to get one!

Mine had the same thing. It's the cables on the regulator breaking. Need to buy a new regulator. If I were you I'd buy the motor too as changing it over is a pain in the backside I think, I wouldn't know as every time it's needed replacing I just bought the regulator and motor together. Expect to pay between £20 and £40 for it through ebay/forum.

euro car parts sell window reg for around £35 and i cant seem to find it cheaper anywhere else.

are the parts different on different reg golfs ie. will a L reg car regulator work on a P reg one?
