MK4 Golf GTI 1.8 (125bhp)
« on: 29 September 2010, 11:16 »
Hia all,
I have just bought the above and will be collecting it later today, just thought i would ask if there is anything i should be checking or changing on the car, she is completly standard with 97000ish miles on the clock and has been well looked after since new as myself and family members know all the owners.

Thanks in advance, any help would be appreciated as this is only my second car and first VW.

Cheers

Your best bet buddy is to have a little snoop around the maintenance section for all the common faults.. chances are if its been well looked after you shouldn't have any problems and not a bad choice of engine there.. on this site everyone will now flood in an tell you you should have got a 1.8t..
Mk4 Golf GTI anniversary and mk6 golf tdi :)

I won't

Make sure all the spark plugs are in good nick and that the oil and filters have been recently replaced.  If not get it serviced

Nowt much you can do other than keep up with the maintenance

Lol.... , thanks. I did toy with getting a T model or a gt tdi however the gt's are out of my price range and ive only had my car lisence for 7 months as ive always been into bikes. Plus i got a good deal on the gti that i now have, :).
Thanks for the warm welcome and advice though.

2nd.
I also have the 1.8 non turbo. Insurence was too much on a 1.8t because I was 17 when I bought it and the nearest gttdi I could find for sale was about 300 miles away. Good engines. Faster than the 2 leter. Fuel condumption isn't too bad.   Can't go wrong. Have fun with it :)
