H.I.C
« on: 29 September 2010, 11:12 »
Hello,
Just joined this site as i have bought my first Golf and thought i would share my insurance info with you all.
Car :
1999 1.8 Golf GTI (125BHP)

Me :
29 Years old
License held for 7 months
Been insured on a 1998 Escort 1.6....with Swindon who wont cover me on a GTI
Ive called lots of comanys and the cheapest quote was £1400 ish TPFT, I called H.I.C after reading from this forum and they are quoting :

£1340.77 Fully comp
£889.55 TPFT

Still a little expensive for my liking however it is the cheapest by a long way and i have to take into account not having a lisence for very long etc.

Hia, ive no idea what they are like with mods as this is the first time i have used them and mine is standard. Also to be fair i have 3 points for speeding on my bike and a claim on the bike also.
So with those 2 and being on a new lisence i think the insurance is pretty good :)

it depends what scheme / underwriter you are quoted with but often cosmetic mods make little/no difference - best call and check first though as we have some insurers who will only insure standard cars....and some who will only insure modified. Make sure you mention it at the outset that you are planning to modify the car and we will try and make sure you are put on a policy that will accomate this.
