Mk2 16 valve, over run cut off valve circuit

Hi Guys,

I've been haveing problems with my mk2 valver for a while now, finally tracked it down to an non functioning over run cut off valve. The problem seems to be it isn't getting any power with the ignition on so isn't operating. I'm currently running the car with it disconnected.

Could some one tell me what part of the fuse board it connects to or suggest any other reasons it may not be recieving any current.

Its part of the loom going to the isv and controller that sits behind the centre console.I'm havin the same prob, mines now disconnected n still playin up... The 3 sensors on the side of the head are part of it aswell, though probably nout to do with the overrun,

Gambit had done a nice bit just for both of you aswell have a read a good read that search took 0.02 seconds

In your case you need to check throttle switches

Great link clipperjay, many thanks, I did try the search function but for some reason this post didn't come up!

BTW the car cuts out as soon as the throttle arm lifts of the throttle switch i.e. you hear it click and hey presto engine cuts out. Disconnect the over run cut off valve and it runs ok.!!

over-run valve is earthed by the isv controller. check the black/yel wire gets ign live though, but to do this you need to earth your multimeter to the battery or chassis, not across the pins. could be the valve is toast, if you put live & earth to the plug you should hear it click inside. one of mine started to melt the 2 wires i connected to it so i knew it had gone open circuit inside 

replaced it with another one hey presto random stalling issues fixed. you can try just disconnect the electrical plug to the valve as well, this fixed the stalling issue for me till i put a new valve
