Thanks for all the comments, really appreciated!

I've booked out two cars for a look/test drive this Sunday and will hopefully be able to go home with one of them as long as they are both in good condition! Luckily my girlfriend works for Audi as well so we can do all the checks on the cars beforehand as well to make sure they are as they say they are!

I'll let you all know by then and hopefully have some pics to show!

I've found my GTI to be fu**ing useless in the snow too.  That's why I have a spare set of wheels fitted with winter tyres.

Thanks for all the comments, so i ended up going to see a car today as the other's were sold on Sunday and ended up buying this , change of colour too! (sorry for the crappy pic its from my iphone):


Only done 17,300 miles as well! Off to collect the car this weekend!!

I do have one question though about insurance you all might be able to help with, basically i'm going to be the registered keeper of the vehicle, but im only 22 and have only been driving 1 year with 1 years NCB. I can afford to put myself as the main driver but dont want to waste money doing so. I've been on Admirals website and put my girlfriend as the main driver and one of the questions it asked is 'Are you the registered keeper of the vehicle?' so i put No and then it asks for the details of the registered keeper. I then put myself as a named driver to save myself about £600.

So is that technically illegal or not considering it's still given me a quote and i've explicitly told it that she's not the keeper and i am, and i'm a named driver, if you can let me know then great as i will go ahead with that as i also get NCB by being a named driver!

As far as insurance is concerned, i was under the impression that you have to be the registered keeper to be the policy holder of the insurance. If i'm wrong then that's great for you!

Im 23 and i thought i would have real trouble with the insurance, and most companies i tried said no way! (6 years driving and 4 yrs NCB, no points) But one thing that has saved me sooooo much money, and i would recommend to anyone, is to join the Institute of Advanced motorists. You have to drive like a lemon and do an advanced test with a copper sat next to you and a running commentary for 2 hours, but it really is worth it. You learn so much about observation and smooth fast driving and its cheap (I did it 3 yrs ago and it was £80 for all lessons, the test and 1st yrs membership) - It costs £20 a year - and their own insurance company (IAM Surety through Adelaide Insurance) insure me on my GTI for £600 per year as the policy holder

As for insurance, I done the whole comparison website thing and the best price for me was around the £1000 mark. The current insurance I had for my 05 Suzuki Swift 1.5 was £600 with Swift insurance, and they bumped the price up to £800 when I got the GTI.

When it came to renewing the insurance, Swift Cover kept the price the same so I decided to have a look on here for advice. Greenlight insurance were the guys I ended up going with. http://www.greenlightinsurance.co.uk

I’m 25 with 4 years NCB but technically I have made 2 claims, 1 for the windscreen, and 1 for an accident that wasn’t my fault (all on my previous car, and luckily nether of these affected my NCB). Green Light quoted me, with my mum as a named driver and protected NCB £400 for the year.

Try them out mate, well worth it. You always get straight through on the phone to someone who is English (not to sound racist, but it does get annoying when you are speaking to someone in India who asks you to spell your name 3 times, its David by the way) The guy I spoke to was very helpful and chucked in the protected NCB free of charge.
