Smoke from Engine

This morning I had the bonet open and I started the car up and I noticed smoke was coming from the engine, I left it running and after a few mins the smoke when away, I have never owned a diesel before so im not sure if this is normal?????? The car still seems to be driving ok Im just slightly concerned.

What colour smoke was it and was it coming from a particular area?

Its a light blue smoke only lasts while the engine warms up it looks like its coming from the rocker cover  :undecided:

Its just had a service so maybe they put to much oil in it very strange problem

Its perfect and so is the coolant, the smoke smells of burning abit as well

Rocker cover gasket? Leaking then burning off somewhere else?

I'm no mechanic far from it, I just checked it again and theres nothing, seems to happen when its cold maybe its a job for VW

How long was it before the smoke showed? Was the engine up to temp? Had it been running a while before you saw the smoke appear?

Could just be oil that they dribbled around the filling cap burning off.
