Window glass..

Hiya all, ok so i got the normal rust starting on the back door, i wanna catch it with POR 15 before it gets holed, question is, it looks like th rear glass is glued in place with mastik, is this the case? if so what is best for it?

yer their bonded in dude,only thing you can do really is take out the rear screen and treat
there is a trim that sits around the window which actually comes on the glass,its the same with the rear quarters on the door also

Do you mean the quater light on the door.

If so you need to strip down and remove the main glass, from memory it is bolted and bonded in.

You need to refit it with the correct window glue really.

bolted too? ive searched the seam on the inside and cannot see bolts, i do however see masticky stuff and lots of it, im on about the tailgate. So if i can find out what glue it is ill be a happy man  :nerd:

rear quarters arent bolted dude,only bonded same as back screens
erm depends where u go dude,different screen companies use different glues and prima´s
dont go to autoglass as there stuff is designed to fit into a specialist gun,but sum companies use skelton guns to pump them out
make sure u get the prima from the same company as the glue,or otherwise the glue wont take to the prima
you neec to take off the old glue,clean it up and prime the body as well as the glass  :smug:

woppit you need to got to a screen fitting company and see if there sell you the stuff dude

yeah well the window will be removed, seals removed and cleaned, POR15 on the rust, then the whole door and the rest of the golf is going matt black! cheers for the info ill call a few peope. :)

the seal is part of the window dude,so watch it when you cut out the backscreen,otherwise its not worth putting the backscreen back in
