Doors unlock when ignition is turned on - help!!
« on: 26 September 2010, 18:00 »
Hi Folks,

Ive just recently discovered a niggling problem with the ED30 and was wondering if anyone can shed any light..

Basically, i get in the car, close the door and lock the doors with the central locking button, so far so good. I insert the key into the ignition and when i turn the key to turn on the engine, the doors all unlock! I either have press the central locking button again or wait until the auto lock feature kicks in when i go over 10mph.

I currently have activated (via the highline computer): unlock all doors (when key fob is pressed), auto unlock when key is removed from ignition, auto lock when car travels above 10mph.

Am i doing something wrong or missed something that's really obvious??

Any help would be appreciated!!

Thanks

Rich

Just out of interest, why is it that you have to lock the doors as soon as you get in?

Could you not just wait for the auto-lock to kick in anyway?

valid question. I have to reverse out of my drive and turn the car around and follow a bendy road for 150 or so metres before hitting the main road - the auto lock may not kick in until i join the main road depend on traffic etc. My sister was car jacked a couple of years ago right outside her house so ive made it a habbit to lock the doors as soon as i get in.

Have you tried turning the auto lock after 10 mph off? Not saying that this will sort it, just a suggestion? Or maybe locking the doors manualy once the ignition is on?

Ive got auto lock (its actually called anti-hijack btw) on my car. Tomorrow Ill give it a go and see if mine does the same.

It sounds almost as if its meant to do that. The cars probably getting really confused as to why your locking the doors when you have anti-hijack on.

The main reason i was asking is that the warranty on the car runs out in 5 weeks, if this is a symptom of a bigger problem, i'd want VW to foot the bill.
Its also strange as it doesnt do this on my MK4 Golf...
