not fully boosting
« on: 26 September 2010, 13:24 »
been told my AGU engine's turbo boosts according to the load from the engine but I was wondering, if my clutch is slipping-could this be the reason why my boost gauge shows max boost at 14psi??  It is remapped and used to boost to 18-20psi when all was good or shall I start searching through my pipeworks??

also, I'm on a bit of a budget so I don't really want to upgrade to the VR6 clutch/flywheel combo.  Is it absolutely necessary to replace the flywheel when changing an OEM clutch?

check your pipes for leaks plus what dump valve are you running ?

you only need to change to an uprated clutch if your running big power I ran my 200bhp golf on standard no issues.

The VR6 combo is cheap TBH - price it up

You dont have to replace the OE flywheel - depends on its condition upon removal

Drive it slow in 5th and floor it that will make it slip if its going to

I saw the combo on classified for £250 then there's the labour.  Other websites i've seen retail for well over 300!!  How will i be able 2 tell my flywheel's had its days though as i've read up due to them being dual mass its recommended that they're replaced.  My clutch definately slipping...as soon as the boost comes on!!

you can get the kit much cheaper than that. All told it worked out to about £150 for the kit when I did the conversion, then around £120 labour.

Just get yourself a 2nd hand flywheel from a breaker or someone on here and get it skimmed. It must be from a 16v though. Clutch in the link below is what I have fitted

Clutch: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VOLKSWAGEN-CORRADO-GOLF-PASSAT-VR6-FAST-ROAD-CLUTCH-/260667024829?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3cb0f725bd

Bolts from the dealers, part numbers are in the maintenance section

And yes the full boost issue could be the clutch as it's not got any load on the engine
