dash lights
« on: 26 September 2010, 12:25 »
dont worry, unlike most of these dash light threads all of mine work

i want to change the colours of my lights, i can get the white clock faces but im also looking to change the bulbs from the boring green(ish) to red and blue like in newer vag stuff (my dads old audi a8 dash looked lush in the night) so im thinking, red needles and blue numbers on my clocks and for the heater controls and all just red, my head unit is already this colour combo so im thinking do the rest of the dash like it.

just had a quick look on ebay but cant find anything, cn any of you guys help me out?

If you want backlit gauges you need a kit for it. DDI do very cool backlit gauges:

If you search German ebay (www.ebay.de) there is a Polish company that do backlit gauge kits for the mk3 which are very good. They also do backlit heater control panels. I don't have a link but they are top notch :afro:
Not low enough mk5
Not on the road enough mk3

hey dude,
i replaced ALL my dash lights with blue LED's from ebay, 21 quid and came with all the diodes and resisitors, painted my dials and numbers dayglo orange (humbrol model paints  :smug:) and it looks awesome, dimms as well, took about a day to do but well worth it, now im installing some hidden LED's in the bits you cant see in the dark (centre console hole ad under glovebox) blue of course.
well worth it, also worth getting a 12v solder iron so you can do it in semi situ to check it works. BUT if buying from germany the instructions are Very bad and theyre - + are reverse for some reason, just be careful. :)

first question, how are the needles so bright are they lit too or just like painted with glow in dark paint or something, because thats exactly what i had in my head for the dials, also how log did it all take you?
