The PR photos looked nice - made me go and see one in the showroom but in the flesh i didn't like it at all -

My wife was desperate for the Mito after seeing a billboard advert and then looking it up on the Alfa site. I must admit I thought it looked quite smart.

We went to the showroom and it looked like a completely different car!!! Couldn't believe the difference.

when I was looking for a replacement for the Subaru, the 3 cars on the list was a Alfa 159 V6 manual (2yrs old, 20,000km) a Focus XR5 (ST in the UK) and the GTI, all of them around the same price about $42,000 (AUD). The Alfa was almost $70k AUD new.

The Alfa looked and sounded gorgeous, although the back seat was cramped. My dad had Alfa 2000 Berlina, back in the late 70's and the engine note on that was something special, although it did need an engine rebuild at 40,000 miles.
The Focus had a great engine note but the GTI's interior was much, much classier. We didn't buy the Alfa because of the concerns of high running costs and parts prices. The Focus although slightly better equipped than the GTI (bluetooth and leather) just felt a class below the GTI in finish, but certainly had a nicer engine note.

My wife's comment was that the boy racer had finally grown up and finally bought a 'sensible' performance car.

I had three new Alfa's on the trot:

97 GTV, 01 GTV and 06 Brera

I had /issues/ with all three.  The final straw with the Brera was the local authorised dealer was completely cack and I refused to make a 2.5 hour round trip every time for a service/warranty work.

Now that is funny

Oh btw...one man's meat is anothers poison...as they say. I can see the appeal of Alfas and I understand the 'understated' looks of the Golf MKVI, one of the reasons I got one! Everyone to their own and just all enjoy...whatever.  :nerd:
MK VI GTI, Manual, 5-dr, Carbon Grey, leather n rear parking....with rear LED lights...n a little Stage 1 Remap ;-)

Yes, how appropriate. The snout on this Alfa is teats-up.
That car needs all the bounce it can get.

I find the alfa is very colour sensitive. Its growing on me though.  but maybe because we are looking for another family car and theres not many choices out there. Some people just like borring bland committee designed euro boxes.
