cleaning advice.
« on: 21 September 2010, 12:07 »
EDIT: apologies for posting in wrong section.

My car has an awful cigarette odour and i dont have a clue how to remove it.

air fresheners isn't a solution as it's only temporary.

i've used different interior shampoos but it's not working. cleaned the seats and the headliner. anyone have any solutions i can try? cheaper the better, thanks!

My dad recently bought a Audi allroad, it was a bit smelly thanks to the previous owners dog lol, bought some of these that clip in the air vents, fitted couple in the front and rear vents they worked a treat...

I use this stuff

http://www.i4detailing.co.uk/acatalog/Aquartz_Cleanair_1.html

recently bought a mk4 Golf that absolutely stank of stall cigarette odour. Got some of this and sprayed an all seats, headlining, door cards and dash (wipe off after application), also popped the vents out and sprayed down them, and its cleared the smell completely.

hth,

Chris

your in the right section,
in the trade we would tackle this with a spray extraction machine like a numatic wet n dry or a goarge, all the fabric and roof lining will have a pre spray of g101 then use the machine to apply bio brisk which has odour killing enzymes in it plus i use a dash of zoflora in the tank which is antibacterial, starting with the roof lining and working down to the carpets, removing the stains and the tar residue from the fabric, if need be it will be done twice to ensure its all removed, then all the plastcs get a wipe down with g101 diluted,
when the interior is fully dry check for smells and if alls good apply some dressing to the plastics, clean windows with a g101 wipe down then a window polish, finally spray a nice scent onto the seats and carpets to freshen it up a bit.

As Guy suggests, Aromatek will shift the odour.
