I've finally found myself a very nice ED30 in the same Silver Mr Hurdy had (It's not as pimped out ofc).

I'm not planning any major mods until I move house and get my finances sorted (house has to come first sadly, her indoors ).  In the meantime though it's parked on the street so I was looking to remove the Ed30 badge as it appears it's attracting unwanted attention .

Any of you guys removed the rear Ed30 badge before and if so how easy is it to get off ?  Would you bother and is it likely to be marked underneath so it'll be noticed ?  If it's going to make a mess i'll just leave it and keep a keen eye out for dodgey looking toe rags :p

Any comments and suggestions appreciated.

P.S. I'll be sticking the badge back on once I've moved so i don't want to damage it ! and need to know if it's possible to stick back on and what to use

Use dental floss, slip it behind an edge of the badge and use a sawing motion to cut through the adhesive behind it. Then use a hairdryer to warm up the residue and remove. Finally polish the area so it blends in with the rest of the boot.

Think you'd need a new adhesive pad when reapplying

I removed mine for a stealthier look - I used the technique described above.

Make up a template before taking them off, so you can put them back if needed - nothing worse than badges in the wrong place!!

Do you really think the little edition 30 badge makes much difference to people checking it out?

We have the pirelli but all people really notice is it is a gti unless they are well informed and then they could tell anyway.

I've got no problem people checking out the car. I'll gladly walk them round it and give a guided tour !

But anything i can do to stop the passing chav's passing on the details of where and Ed30 is parked I'm all up for !

Only 4 weeks after getting my other red one i had an attempted break into my house for the key.  All the hallmarks a local gang stealing to order.

I've updated my locks for the house and all that sort of stuff but now i have another new Ed30 I'd like to keep it

think about it, if they were stealing an ED30 to order, they would be able to spot it, badge or not.

Beef up security a bit more ?. Maybe get one of those steering wheel locks & fit that every night.

if someone is able to break into a golf and start it, they will be able to remove a steering wheel lock in seconds.

No way to start it without the key - you need to beef up your house security if you are that worried.

No, I removed both badges at the rear so that any chavs in their corsa's etc.. don't try it on when following me on mway. To 90% of ppl, it looks like a normal golf from the back - only car nuts know what an ed 30 is, trust me!
