Candy White or Carbon Grey
« on: 20 September 2010, 11:26 »
Hi All,

I posted earlier regarding a couple of questions on options, for which you were all really helpful cheers.

http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=165831.0

I'm now just down to choosing the colour, so again looking for some help

As the subject suggests my two preferred colours are now Candy White and Carbon Grey.  Diamond Black was a 3rd option, but after seeing one in the flesh and having had a Black car, I've narrowed it to the two.

My heart really wants to go with the Candy White, after having missed out on the MK5 due to company policy at that time (Metallics only).  I now have clearance on the Candy White, but the one thing that goes against it is whether it's now to common a colour?  I've searched for previous posts on here, and noted a few have toyed between the same colours.

I have seen both in the flesh, and both do look fantastic, but the white still does it

Never had such a hard decision over colour before!  I guess one thing I have noticed for sure is that the MK6 GTI are as rare as anything on the road.  3 weeks after my test drive and making the decision I have yet to see a single one on the road.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers!

White is certainly the in colour at present and it definitely looks good on most cars. But colour is so so subjective.
If 100 people told you to buy Carbon grey and 1 said White, would that be your mind completely and utterly made up and you would order with no further doubts?
I doubt it  Go with your instinct and what you are more happy with.
Go and view them both again during the day and as the light fades if they are outside!

Candy White is great but you will have to clean it regularly. Unless spotless, it looks slightly compromised. But it is simply stunning and the car really stands out.

Red always really looks great and needs the least maintainance.

Shadow Blue is the Classiest colour.

These are my 3 favourite colours.

So, if your heart says Candy White, go for it.

White all the way (well I would say that) - It's a colour that does need some TLC, but boy is it worth it. It's proper bling if you can keep it looking its best.

GTI mk6, 3dr Manual (Yes Manual! If I wanted a Taxi I'd hail one, not spend £1500 on one), Candy White, Full Leather, Xenons, ACC, 18", RCD510 + Dynaudio, DAB Radio, Winter Pack, Luxury Pack, Fiscon Bluetooth Plus, Golf R LED's.

White does look fantastic but personally i think the Carbon grey is subtle, understated and really classy. I think it would be my choice

However:

White is certainly the in colour at present and it definitely looks good on most cars. But colour is so so subjective.

I narrowed it down to the exact same two colours when I was buying mine. Plumped for Carbon Grey in the end but could have flipped a coin on it and been happy however it had have landed. If it's any help I think Carbon Grey looks classier but Candy White looks much sportier.

With me its more of a matter of principle. I'd rather not give VW any more money! So it was a choice of the "free" colours! Apparently it costs them nothing extra to paint it in the mettalic colours. (Prepare for slating). Is this true?

Anyway I think White is certainly the in colour right now and the GTI has always looked good in white. Its down to your own preference, you have to drive round in it after all. It sounds as if you have already decided though?

I went with Carbon Grey, looks very nice after a good clean! However, White does look stunning!

I wanted to keep a lower key, so went with the Carbon Grey.

Good luck, i remember bouncing between colours for ages!!!!
