Electric window help
« on: 19 September 2010, 14:37 »
I'm driving from Oxford to grays yesterday. Needed to pick up my sub box and a friends kids 1st birthday. Start of the journey the drivers window was down and that's how it stayed and is currently.

Never again am I driving down the M25, M40 at night with the window down. My head still hasn't warmed up lol.

I've searched this topic but still not sure. Here's the facts.

Passenger window works fine.
Passenger window can go up from drivers button but not down.
Electric mirrors work fine
Sunroof works fine
Now when I press the drivers side button for the drivers window I get a Whine from I assume the motor in the door but also a click from the motor in the roof, just in front of the sunroof.

I read in some threads about multimetering a few places to check voltage. Could someone go over what these are and what the voltage should be.

Thanks guys karl

First place to check has to be the wiring in the door.Open the door and there's a rubber sleeve between the door and the pillar. Pull this back and check the wires for damage as this is a common problem on the Mark 3's.

You are a god.

Sure enough cable has split.

Touched them together and it's all good.

Thanks mate.
