I know that the regular lights on the GTI (my Mk5 one anyway, cos donno bout the mk6 yet) well lets say they don't really set the world on fire, but they are ok, and I cant recall any incidents where it was lack of adequate lighting in-front of me that was the main reason for a sphincter loosening moment. Are the Xenon's really that much better, like 1100quids worth of better?

cheers
Watch the two videos i posted and make your own mind up. IMO are they worth £1100? if your thinking are they worth it then probably there not. I don't see much difference apart from colour and the adaptive lighting compared to our previous mk5. I also prefer the DRL on the standard halogens.

The standard Halogen lights are no different to those on a base Golf. As GTis are not base and cheap, their jewellery should be commensurate with their status. Xenons are definitely brighter and more chic than the Halogens and in my considered  opinion worth every penny.

They should be standard on the GTI anyway, its money spinner for VW. You look at other  motor's in the same price bracket most of them have Xenon's!!

So why didn't you get them from factory or are you going to try to save some cash and retro fit them?
btw good job on the bumper - a total result for sure!

I had Xenons on my MKV so thought I would really miss them.

I drove the car in the dark for the first time a couple of days ago and have to say the lights were fine.
I have upgraded the H7s with Philips X-Treme Power which may have made the difference.

The main beam seems to have blueish tinge to it and is also good.

The only benefit I see from the having the Xenons is they used to light up the road signs and any safety type reflective surface from far away.
They also add a touch of class to the car and like others have said should have been standard.

Thinking again, I am just going to stick with the standard light and use the £1000 for something else, a Milltek turbo back exhaust for example
