The 16V on the motorway is awesome compared to the 8V and in all honesty you cant boot any car round town these days with speed cameras and cops with hand held gatsos.

The best bet is to do what GOLF VR6 said and get a 2 litre 16V in a MK2 GOLF as this overcomes the low down "torque" problems.

Everyone goes on about the 8v having torque, what torque? If i remember right i think the 8v only had about 105lbs per ft, not a lot is it?    :-* :-*

p.s. 8v is my choice  ;D
I bet all you 16v drivers wish you had a 8v when your engine needs attention...my mate spends big money on his 16v and my engines parts are signifcantly cheaper

buy a porsche, expect porsche prices. its a price i think is worth paying to be honest.

Cheaper repairs, loads of low down torque , gotta get an 8v  :-*
