I have recently bought a mk3 8v gti and the rear bumper needs a new coat of paint ,as this is my first vw i looked under the bonnet for the code for the colour but cant find it any one give me a clue.

I have done some digging round on the net, and the only white I can find that vw used, even tho it may not be your is.
Alpine White (L9OE)
Here is a link to the colour codes page on the gti16v website, its for 92 usa spec cars, but it may well the info you are after.

If you still have the stick on list in the boot with chassis number etc on it.
Then this also contains the paint code.
Dont ask me which bit - take it to yer dealer, the parts guys are usually the best to ask.
