Im pretty sure we have had this talk and unlike the MK5 which was setup as standard to run 98+ wasnt the MK6 setup to make peak power and efficiently on the simple 95 stuff?

Sounds like it might be a false economy on the MK6 then.

Yeah I seem to remember it comes from the same refinery, but that the retailers put in the additives to their own specification.

Perhaps, but mine ran great on 100 racing, so maybe it will make a bit of difference. At least the mk 6 boys aren't pinned to shell only, like I am. Well Tesco too now, if I trust their additives!!

ive been using that tesco momentum recently and i have to say the miles i am getting from a tank has gone up around 15 miles. ive got the roc r dsg and am not unwilling to boot it. most of my driving is commuting 20ish miles a day with a bit of pottering at weekend. id always used shell/sainsburys but am impressed with this tesco stuff. i reckon im stickin with that at the min.

The Roc R has the "older" MK5s GTI 2.0T and not the MK6s GTI engine. You will see benefits in running the higher octane stuff in both R models.

You're Shell V Power has allegedly more/better additives to protect and clean the engine. Not sure I trust Tesco. Although saying that, they're pretty good with putting additives in their food!

It seems I was wrong about Mk6 gti engine and V-power, 95 ron only then??  :undecided:
