Stationary voltage is approx 12v

Sounds like a shagged battery from here.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Along with 99% of cars I have mapped then as they show that or less voltage when reading and writing to the ECU

Equally if it was shagged then it wouldnt it struggle to start on these frosty mornings and yet its fired up first time all this week  :undecided:

Wonder if it's the lift pump?

Is it any worse dependent on how much fuel is in it?

Where all my moneys went.

So  into the garage it went........

And passed all the checks.....battery voltage was good, earth leads are all good, starter motor is operating correctly and not drawing too many amps

Garage test started it approx 30 times and it never failed once  :undecided:

Check fuel lines for bubbles next time it doesn't start.

I'd also whip a fuel line off and make sure the lift pump is operating when it fails.

Could also try a lift pump test in VAG COM if it fails to start to see if running that for a minute will get it going.

Has behaved itself for the last two weeks......

So instead the bracket holding my downpipe has decided to snap and leave me with a hole or two

Hopefully sort it before Christmas......
