Airbag sensors
« on: 09 September 2010, 22:56 »
Hmmn. Already had one set of wires fiddled with behind the glovebox for the front passenger airbag. Now the drivers airbag is showing s regular code error. Local VW stating that it's a case of the multiconnectors being a bit sh1t. They say VW should have considered a hardwire. They can convert it to hardwire but would you?

No, check the airbag plug under the steering wheel sometimes if the clip on the back of the steering wheel controller is damaged it can fall down on the side where the airbag plugs into the SWC, you then get the airbag light coming on all the time.

Take the plastic cowling off under the steering wheel and you'll see the big yellow plug make sure its seated properly and make sure the black box is not moving and that the small silver screw is in the front of the box? there should also be a void seal on the front it should not be broken.

Try unplugging the wires under both front seats and re-connecting them with the ignition off and that could sort it it's a very common fault with lots of cars when the connectors are disturbed. It's worth a try before getting Vw to do it and it cost you.

Cheers guys. TBF the dealership is really sound and inspected and reset at no cost. I've used this lot for years and they acknowledge it's a common fault. Will keep my eyes peeled for the retrigger as since its been reset it's not gone again. Fingers crossed
