crunching 2nd gear and clear gear oil!!

Ever since i blew a hole in my origional gearbox and replaced it with obe from the scrappy mines crunched from first to second. very embarrassing sometimes in the middle of town!!

My 2nd gear is crunching too. I read someplace it costs about ?120 to have it fixed. But i went today to a VW specilist and he said that its gonna be cheaper to replace the whole gearbox and im looking at a lot of money 

might be a quote for a gearbox reconditioning, be cheaper to get a refurbed one and change them over i get the same if im giving it some but only when engine temps below about 70 and the clutch is brand new so its not that
