0-60 time at Trax in Sliverstone
« on: 06 September 2010, 08:48 »
Hey people

I thought I would let you know that I went to Trax which was held at Silverstone on Sunday. Great day out and some really nice cars on show. Shame I didn’t see many MK5's a few good looking MK4's though.

Anyway I had a go on the old 0-60 speed strap thing, and on my first run (in the rain) I posted a 6.47 seconds to 60. The only mod I have put on the car is a Carbon Speed cold air feed and a piper cross panel filter. I was well happy, as I was expecting to get in the 7's, what with it raining, and the car being nearly 6 years old. Got to love launch control on the DSG.

Another high light was seeing and hearing the Nissan GTR blast it round the circuit. It sounded like a jet fighter!

Mrk V, GTI, 3dr, DSG, heated seats, winter pack, cruise control, rear parking sensors and now thanks to GizzyWizzy and SteveP in the MK6 section a RCD 510. Awesome!

I saw you running mate and that's a cracking time for a standard-ish K03, you must of had some decent traction unlike myself..
As for not seeing many Mk5's there... Did you not see the white Edition 30 on the 0-60 sprint? Rumour has it that it won the FWD class...  :smug:

Oh wow that’s awesome well done. Shame I didn’t see you. Did you see my mate in the silver Mitsubishi FTO and my other mate in the red Suzuki Insignis Sport with the white wheels? Their times where laughable compared to mine ha ha!

I have to give the good traction to my PS3’s that I have on the front. Awesome in the wet!

I saw the win was for a golf with a time of around 5 seconds, but it didn’t say what make or model, so I had no idea it was a fellow GTI. I was hoping to go again when it was dry and see if I could get closer to the winning time, but they started to announce the winners as I made my way back to my car.

I did see a tasty Red ED30 with a black bonnet and Aero alloy wheels at Toddington services, any ideas who’s that is?

So how is the trophy and the little gizmo they give you?

Well it a £350 VI Performance monitor so pretty chuffed with that to be honest (not had chance to try it out yet though)..
There's a thread about it here mate..

So you rate the PS3's then by the sounds of it? I'm getting some fitted next week to replace my PS2's. Not confident they will be quite as grippy as yours in the wet though on mine..

That aint a bad little win. How many runs did you do before you got the winning time? I am well gutted I didn't have time for a run in the dry, could of maybe given you a run for your money ha ha!

Yeah they are good, proper expensive but they are good. Mind you the previous owner had some really bad rubber on there so anything was going to be better, and the PS3’s where kid of spur of the moment. I had to get 2 new tyres to pass my MOT, so I asked for the best ones and that’s what they put on. I am gonna save up and get them on the rear too.

That was my first run of 2 mate. It started raining as I was queueing for my 2nd run and so I only managed a 5.51.. (still not bad considering I suppose).
Will have to see what these PS3's are like, sounds promising!
