New throttle body, new diverter valve and a new PCV. Not massively expensive repairs.
Other quirks are mine likes more oil than others' cars, probably because of the way it's used.
Generally not missed a beat. Bigger brakes and a re-map would be nice though.
Doesn't sound that bad after all! Im really considering a used MK5!
Any advices of what to look out for one which is about 3 years old and about 60K miles on it?
:embarassed:
I bought a 5 year old Mk5 with 60k on 2 months ago, and it is brilliant! Mine has been looked after really well, has full VW service history and a load of receipts. Seeing as the service intervals for the cambelt are 4 yrs or 60k, i made sure this was done as part of the deal (get the waterpump done at the same time, no extra labour, part is roughly £40-£50)
The car is brilliant, i've fitted 4 new Falken FK452 tyres which in my opinion are fantastic, the car handles beautifully with loads of feel through the wheel. Yes, and EVO will be faster, but a lot more expensive to run and built like a black bin-bag on the inside. They handle well but in 5/6th gear they turnover at around 4k revs. (Last one i drove was a VII - was very fast and brilliant fun to blast down a back road but i wouldn't want to live with it)
I've had no issues so far, averaging 31mpg and loving the car.
