Is the steeler trying to rip me off?

After scratching two of my wheels (18" Shadow Monzas) during a service the local steelers has agreed to refurb them (how generous).  I also want to get the other two wheels refurbed and have agreed to pay the cost of these myself.

Steeler says wheels will cost £140 a corner... so they'd want £280 off me for 2 wheels.  Apparently they have a local guy (who operates a mobile unit who is v good).

I have spoken to Lepsons who quoted £70, which if correct would mean they could get all 4 wheels refurbed for £280 (which funnily enough is what they have quoted for 2 wheels....).

Am I missing something or are they trying to pull a fast one?  I didn't think the shadow monzas could be refurbed by mobile units anyway...

I would wait and see what sort of job they do with the ones they are doing for nothing, if they f**k those up go for Lepsoms, I need my Monzas doing but definately won't be going to the dealers at that price.

Not a good move really as all 4 need doing at the same place with exactly the same treatment, otherwise there could be a discrepancy in alloy colour.

Personally I'd ask if they would stump up the money for the 2 wheels and then get all 4 done basically for free at Lepsons.

Fair enough, but if they only pay for 2 and will only use one place you're stuck. Get a quote direct from Lepsons as a comparison, might show they are taking the pi**

If they've dmaged them then new replacements not returbs would be my only satisfied outcome.

Its Lepsons - not Lepsoms!

If they think it costs £280 for 2x wheels, then just get a cheque for the £280 off them and take 'em to Lepsons yourself, mobile work vs. Lepsons work - its a no-brainer.

I had my wheels done when i origionally bought the car.

The dealer i bought from only paid £35 per wheel and it was only £50 to have them done yourself (ie not dealer discount).  My are the ED30 alloys and the guy did a cracking job of matching the paint and i honestly can't tell (he only did the edge rim).

They're ripping you off mate, get the cash and get it done yourself !
