Golf GT TDI 130
« on: 25 August 2010, 21:36 »
Going to buy it next week off my dad and was wondering what on earth i could do to it.
Already been in to local re-map place and they gave me a print out which was this

http://www.superchips.co.uk/curves/vagpd130.pdf

They said they can do me it for £350
anyone any advice on this ?

Also if i was going to do this, would it be worth buying larger hoses before hand, as the re-map
can then take full advantage of the wider hoses ? is this right ?

Cheers

£150 less and you'll get another 10bhp more at R-Tech

Don't bother with upgraded hoses mainly because you can only buy one.  Just make sure the clips and lugs on the existing hoses are in good condition as they'll be the first to fail after the remap

Okay bud thanks very much. Yer i looked at R-tech. Im in hull though, meaning R-tech is a 3 hour drive (at speed limit) but i think its definitely worth 10bhp and £150 less. Any other significant performance increases viable (without spending 1000's) to do on this engine ?
I do have a garage with a ramp so can do stuff on the cheap

Get hold of the Innotec turbo cleaner or get R-Tech do it at the same time as the remap.  This cleans out all the soot in the turbo vanes

Also whip off the EGR and inlet manifold and clean them out

And also get a decat pipe on there - not needed for MOT's and will help fatten the mid range torque

Just make sure its up to date with servicing, timing belts etc :afro:

Right, i may as well make a bloody list!!
Decat ? what kind of gains does that give, noticeable ones? does it not effect mpg

Yer full service hist. Spot on car by the sounds of it

Have a read through my project thread for some ideas :afro:  Also there are some back to back rolling road runs of the car with the CAT and then the decat in place
