Miles to empty modification on anniversary model???

Hi guys

my wife had a mk5 so was used to miles to empty on our golf but my mk4 anni doesnt have it, im in Cumbria does anyone know anyone that would get it done with vagcom or whatever is needed to change the settings??

Or can I buy a vagcom off e bay or somewhere and do it myself without damaging anything then I would have one for fault reading etc??

Thanks for that, but how dangerous ie will i screw anything up, is it and how do I know what to change etc??
