Hi there,

i have just had the Exhast Emissions light com up on the dash and it will not dissappear.
im driving a mk4 1.8 T if that helps.

done some reading and im guessing this could be the lamda sensor?

is this an expensive part and how easy is it to fit?

also is there anybody based near staines, middlesex with a fault code reader, because im too stingy to pay for the diagnosis lol well it is a rip off!

1 last things, is it ok to drive the car with this light on as i really do not have any money to get this fixed until about 4 weeks time............

any help would be appreciated :)

Thanks guys

Depends on the exact fault but I wouldn't recommend it

Warning lights are there for a reason!

Think they are about £80-£100.  It could be the wiring to them.

If it was my car though I'd get it checked sooner rather than later to avoid any potential big bills

Mine came on a couple of weeks ago and initially I didn't know why, within a couple of days the car developed a misfire and before I knew it I had spent 440 notes. Admittedly, the problem should have cost only about £100 but since I got a remap at the same time it pushed the cost up. My problem was a coil pack which cost about £25 plus labour and diagnostics and VAT.
Hope its nothing bad.

Just thought i would update the topic!

Bought the diagnostic reader and diagnosed the fault as the MAF sensor, gave it a clean and made sure it was connected correctly.
then resetted the error codes and i have been driving fine ever since!

If anyone has any issues and is near to staines and needs to find out their fault codes without paying a stupid garage then let me know ;)

i hate spending money when not needed!
