Mk5 GTI - First Detail
« on: 22 August 2010, 11:44 »
Hi All,

Thought i'd post some photos of my first detail on my Golf. I've always liked cleaning/polishing the car but i never really knew how to do it properly. After reading up on this forum, i ordered some stuff from Waxamomo and here are the results. Car is 5 years old and i've only had it for a month, dont think its been properly washed since new!

Products Used:

First i washed it with a microfiber mitt and turtle wax shampoo
Dried with a Waxamomo deep pile drying towel
Clayed with Dodo supernatural kit
Polished with Megs deep crystal polish
2 thin coats of Jetseal109
Finally 2 thin coats of Megs techwax 2.0 liquid

The wheels were removed, cleaned inside and out with soapy water, a wheel brush and elbow grease, then 2 coats of Jetseal109. I also fitted new centre caps as the originals were whitewormed!

The black plastic and the tyres were dressed with ImagePro Wet Wall slick.

Pics are taken on my phone as i dont have a camera, but i think it looks pretty good!

very nice, good job.
You only ever need two tools in life. If it moves and it shouldn't use Duct Tape. If it does not move and it should, use WD40.

Thanks Chris,

That's down to the Dodo Supernatural clay kit and the 2 coats of JS109 kindly supplied by you!

I'll be on to you again in a couple of weeks for a decent shampoo and a new bucket!

Any recommendations?
