170k and all good...

Just turned 170,000 miles this week in my 8 valve GTi... and still produces over 40 to the gallon on a run...

And at 170,001 miles the ECU died, the cambelt broke bending all the valves, a rod came out the side and the gearbox exploded, all simultaneously! Spooky, maybe Fate reads the forum...

Seriously though, good effort. Hope you manage a few more miles together yet.

sh!t, i just bought mine last week with 174k. hope i don't have that in store

hi fella, mine has 189k still going very strong and i can get 40mpg, also she sailed thrpugh the mot! i love my mk3 gti 16v

40mpg!?!! I wish mine was even a few above where it is now (about 20mpg)
Only an 8 valver and it doesn't get thrashed, and it spends most of the time on a motorway cruising!!! Cue the violins

just gone 196,000 and get about 28mpg round town with a heavy boot
