I sold an iPhone 4 on an eBay auction for £962 and got charged £40 final value fee, 3.5% PayPal fees, plus about £1.50 for my listing costs.  I think £40 is the maximum they charge you for normal items... as its 10% of sale price up to £40.

I sold my second one as £999 Buy It Now, and only got charged a £16 fee, plus my 3.5% PayPal, and my £1.50 listing!

If you're selling something of reasonable value, you're aswell putting a Buy It Now price, and then Best Offers.  People email you and ask what your Best Offer price is and you can negotiate.  You can also 'counter' offer.

I remember selling stuff on eBay for about £400 and getting charged about £10 final value... oh how times have changed
